One job: identify likely clickbait.

The extension reads visible headline or post text on the sites declared in its Chrome package. It adds a warning beside likely clickbait and acts only when you choose to block, report, or correct a result.

Routine classification

The service receives a temporary request ID and visible headline text. It does not receive the page URL, cookies, browsing history, form fields, private messages, or account information. Routine requests are processed in memory and are not retained.

Explicit feedback

A URL is sent only after you choose Report as clickbait, Block Similar Content, or This is not clickbait. The record contains a random installation ID, headline, correction, model version, timestamp, and canonical URL. Query strings and fragments are removed. Records expire after 90 days.

Local browser data

Chrome local storage holds the random installation ID, up to 100 blocked headlines, and a seven-day result cache keyed by a SHA-256 hash instead of raw headline text. This data is not used for advertising, sale, or cross-site profiling.

Remote code

None. All executable JavaScript and the local fallback model ship inside the extension. The HTTPS classifier returns numeric results, not code.

Seven live, tested sites.

Facebook, X/Twitter, YouTube, The New York Times, BuzzFeed, RVCJ, and Times of India. ScoopWhoop and Being Indian were part of the historical extension but are omitted from this release because their sites were unavailable during current testing.

Something classified incorrectly?

Use the correction control beside the headline. For installation or product support, use the Support link on the Stop Clickbait Chrome Web Store listing. That keeps requests attached to the published extension and does not expose browsing data automatically.
